Love is in the air

I know, I know, it's a horrendous, mercenary, enforced Gestapo-fun, Hallmark-created day, blah blah blah, but it's an excuse to do something silly and fun with your other half, or make a move on that person you fancy, or post pictures hinting at love affairs between fictional characters. Although, when I was at school, it was the time when you sat there, alone, watching everyone else get loads of cards, brooding, thinking up extremely violent revenge fantasies that you'd eventually pour into nasty scripts filled with murder and tragedy. But now it's about pink hearts and rainbows! And occasionally murder. But *caring* murder.

And remember - nothing says "I love you" like genital herpes. Go on. Spread a little love. Tell em Uncle Jimbo sent you.

Sir, with these genital herpes you are really spoiling us!!!

I never got a valentine at school either. Nice to know there were others like me out there, suffering, now writing horror... Hang on, I'm seeing a pattern here: to be a horror writer you have to be spurned constantly, an object of ridicule the whole of your teens...Only to go on and have a trophy spouse, multiple screenwriting awards, a million squid and a gold toilet.

Glad I got that one sorted. Now just to make the other half happen...

Hey Jimbo,

Dave and Emmets mate Seán here.

Got your blog address from Emmet. Loved Severance - likely it will be the only movie I buy a copyright for this year ;). Dave is currently in Aisia getting the stuffing knocked out of him so you might enjoy as much as I did hearing about his pain so here is his blog:

I got a pearl necklace for Valentine's Day when I was in school. Not THAT kind of pearl necklace.

I used your Severence pic on my funky new blonkroll, btw.

Annie - I have to admit the first sentence raised an eyebrow. The second made me ashamed of raising an eyebrow.

James - Interesting choice of picture. I wonder if Spock ever got jealous of Kirk shagging everything in sight, not caring about colour, home planet, or even sometimes gender (I'm sure I remember him going for it with some green thing that could have been male or female).

I have never, ever had a Valentines Day card from anyone.

Ever.

I'm quite proud of that.

Sean: Cheers for the link, guv - Dave frightens me. He frightens me on some deep, primeval level.

Annie: You win the comments award for 2007. No question... Where's your blonkroll, by the way?

Hi James,

I was wondering if you, or someone, could shed some light on this horror series BBC is developing which was mentioned in previous comments, does it have a name and what 'type' of horror is it, i.e bloody, gory horror or supernatural along the lines of Sea Of Souls.

Thanks

C Healey

In my sidebar.

C.Healey: It's basically an anthology series, dealing with modern fears, so it'll be a different tale each week, don't think it's got a name yet. Some will be psychological, some supernatural, some gory, a mixture as far as I know. It's still being developed, and mine is only at outline stage - I don't know too much about the whole thing, just the one I'm working on. Sorry I can't go into more detail, I'd get people (and myself) into trouble...

Completely understand, sounds good though, hope you make it through to production.

James, did you know Severance was on ITV4 on Saturday? Well, that's what i read on robin kelly's blog. A bit quick don't you think.

James Moran said...

Hotzappa: It was Deliverance that was on - but he mentioned Severance straight under the pic, so it does look like it. But no, that would be a bit quick!

Noticed from the pfd site you're going to be writing an episode of TORCHWOOD, any idea when it will be broadcast?
