Anniversary

As of today, I've been going out with the gorgeous, insane Jo for exactly 10 years. In May, we'll have been married for 3 years. And it has been exactly five hours since she woke me up by leaping on to the bed, shrieking, like one of those flying/gliding squirrel things. How has she put up with me for so long? I keep her drugged, and chained up in a cupboard under the sink.

They've been the best 10 years of my life, so far, and I couldn't do any of this without her, watching my back, looking after me, and occasionally bitchslapping me when necessary. She's lovely, warm, funny, sexy, silly, mental, clever, talented, has the voice of an angel, and the mind of a tart. I love her to bits, and can't wait to see what the next 10 years have in store.

Now get back in the cupboard, wench, daddy's working.

Aawwwwww!

The first ten years are the best, then the next ten years, they're the best too, after that it just gets better!

(25th wedding anniversary in May for me.)

Love the blog. And congrats.

One question?

How do I add you so I can keep tabs on you?

Adaddinsane: Blimey, 25 years, nice!

Shane: Look over in the sidebar on the right, and there's a "Subscribe to the blog" section. You can subscribe to the posts in Google Reader or other news feed thingies. Or you can follow me using Blogger's Follow feature: http://is.gd/20Rh Or follow me on Twitter (see sidebar too), and get blog updates and also see when I'm having a drink or watching telly.

How incredibly inspiring - 9 years and counting (4 months married).

I have been let out of my cupboard for my daily 20 mins exercise and free to roam on twitter for a whole5 mins today. I'm glad I,m not the only one being denied of my freedom for the sake of the one I love ...

Got to go, mice calling from under bed!

Yay!!!! Lovely!

It really does just get better and better :) (13 years married this May!)

Mind you, poor hubby is a mere shadow of what he used to be - such close proximity to the Magz has astoundingly driven him quite beyond insane I'm afraid.

Come to think of it - most folks end up that way after any given time around me...

How odd!

Mucho congrats and may the next 10 years be even happier - and the next 10 etc!

Congrats! I can hardly believe myself that my fiance and I are only 2 years off the big 10 mark ourselves. And we're not even married yet! (Next year)... I used to think that people who weren't married after 8 or so years together were a bit mad, but that mark crept up on me, damnit!

Hope you have a lovely celebration :)

Well done, old man. Ten years! Does Jo get a letter from the Queen for sticking with you this long?

Seriously, though: a nice counterpart to your recent (brilliant) Moran-on-writing FAQ post might include some words about how the missus has supported / accommodated / tolerated you and your writing. Is she creative herself, and therefore understanding of your needs as a writer? Have the two of you reached specific understandings (i.e., 'do not disturb' hours when you're free to crack away, etc.)? If it's not too personal to ask - how does your writing, and the time you spend working, coordinate or conflict with your relationship? Did Jo's understanding of, or attitude toward your writing change once you started bringing home checks? Can she deliver hard truths as a reviewer of your work that might not be welcome from other readers?

Congratulations to you crazy kids!

That line about 'the mind of a tart' sure got my attention, where can I meet this dream vision?

Thanks to everyone for the lovely comments!

Jim: Very good idea, I'll do a post about that soon.

Anonymous: Hands off, she's mine.
