Tower Block out in September 2012

Some lovely news for me today - and for you, if you like my stuff - Tower Block will be released by Lionsgate in UK & Ireland cinemas in September this year!

More details here, but be warned - they're a bit spoilery. You'll get much more out of the movie if you go in knowing as little as possible, seeing as it's a thriller and all. You have been warned! By me!

There's also an official Tower Block Facebook fan page here, with regular news updates, so go and Like or Clickybum or Wakka Wakka or Cyber-marry or whatever you punk-ass kids are doing these days. It's got a temporary sales poster on there which won't last forever, so have a look before the official poster replaces it.

There's no actual date listed, I'll update this post when one appears. I don't know about release dates in other countries yet, but don't worry, you will be able to see them at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later. No trailers yet. More news as it arrives!

Who and where I am, May 2012

Hello, new people! Welcome! I'm James Moran. I write stuff.

The things I'm probably best known for are Severance, the horror comedy starring Danny Dyer and Laura Harris, the Fires of Pompeii episode of Doctor Who (season 4, David Tennant, Catherine Tate, big volcano, kaboom), and two episodes of Torchwood (the stabby-arm aliens from season 2, and Day 3 from Children of Earth).

I've done lots of other TV too, and have two new movies being released this year - Cockneys Vs Zombies, starring Michelle Ryan, Harry Treadaway, Rasmus Hardiker, Ashley Thomas, Alan Ford, Honor Blackman, and Richard Briers; and Tower Block, starring Sheridan Smith, Jack O'Connell, Russell Tovey, Ralph Brown, Montserrat Lombard, Julie Graham, Nabil Elouahabi, Kane Robinson, and Michael Legge. My full list of credits is here.

This is my blog, which is self explanatory. You can also find me on Twitter, and my official Facebook page is here.

Comments are switched off on the blog, because they take too much time to moderate. I see everything on the Facebook page, and sometimes respond if I get a chance. If you want to get in touch, *please* read the FAQ first, and also the information on the Contact page. I'm more likely to respond on Twitter, because it's fun and easy and short.

Thank you for following, or liking, or subscribing, or clicking, or cyber-whatevering, etc! This means we are INTERNET MARRIED, and by even glancing at this page, you accept any evil terms and conditions that I may invent at any time. Thank you and good day.

Dead Roots preview

Dead Roots, the zombie comic anthology I've contributed to, has posted a small preview image of my story, with art by the brilliant Rebecca Morse. It's not finished yet, or coloured, etc, so it's just a quick glimpse. But it's worth keeping an eye on the page for more sneaky previews and news.

They're also looking for submissions again, so go and check it out. Go on! Now!

Cheap Rate Gravity, online now

Good news, everyone - my first ever produced piece of work, Cheap Rate Gravity, is online now! Welcome, to the woooooorld of tomorrowwwww!

Update: here's a link with no password, on my own Vimeo channel.

I won the Sci Fi Channel's Sci Fi Shorts competition, many many years ago (well, in 2002), and they made my winning script into a short film. The full story is here and here, if you don't already know it. I'm really glad it's online now, as not many people got a chance to see it, so here it is. Huge thanks to Jonathan Rawlinson for getting this online, and for getting in touch with me after I blogged about it before. Hope you enjoy it!

Update: Yes, "Stylish Napkins" is a real book she's using. It's still for sale.

Update 2: Steve from Severance was partly inspired by Steve Sweeney, the Cockney salesman in the short. I was fascinated by the idea of him being in a horror movie, to see how he'd react.
